E&D, Married! | A Boston Langham Hotel Wedding

E&D, as you might have been introduced to through their engagement session, are friends of mine from college. It’s always such a treat to photograph a friend because I get so involved in their story. E&D are honest and open about who they are as people, and every part of their wedding held so much meaning. E loves D for his giving heart and responsibility. D loves E for her courage, generosity, and kindness. I can attest to E’s courage especially, seeing her speak out on tough issues back in college. Even now she is teaching at a school that is really trying to do something awesome for its kids.

E got ready at her parents’ beautiful home. There is something so very personal about getting ready in a home, and theirs had great light. E was a dream to photograph in her beautiful dress, the veil that her mother made for her, and check this – she wore six pairs of shoes and a total of five different outfits throughout the evening, including one heirloom traditional Chinese wedding outfit that had been passed through the generations in D’s family. It had hand sewn gold thread throughout in an incredible dragon motif, it is truly a sight.

It was not hard to tell the story for this wedding, because nothing was contrived. And it is those genuine moments that I am most proud of in this wedding.

We grabbed many fun portraits at the Post Office Square park. Family means the world to E&D, and I was given plenty of time to take beautiful brightly lit family photos as well as plenty of portraits of E&D themselves. E’s super creative friend Joy helped create the pinwheel bridemaid bouquets and bouts.

Their ceremony was full of laughter and memorable moments. E kept D waiting on pins and needles by taking just a little longer time to walk down the aisle. A guest yelled out “She’s coming!” and D crossed his fingers, replying, “I hope so!” E&D wrote extremely personal vows to each other. Half the room was in tears, and then the entire room erupted in laughter when, after exchanging rings, E grabbed D’s hands and exclaimed, “Locked in!”

E was a visual and environmental studies major in college and one of her many talents is film photography. The centerpieces were made of vintage toy cameras. Even more incredibly thoughtful was that E&D printed photographs of them with people at each of the tables for us guests to take home. I saw photos from my college days (and marveled at how little I weighed!).

The entire crowd danced into the night. D and his groomsmen even performed an impromptu synchronized group dance to Michael Jackson’s “Beat It”.

I transformed into a guest starting around dinner, dress and makeup and shoes and all. I could not have done this wedding without my incredible team. Most all the post-first dance photos you see here were shot by Jenn Liang Photography and then edited by me, while Melanie Ludlow of M Lu photography ran the photobooth and assisted all day. Thank you two so much for making this such a great experience and for showing once again that Boston photographers are the best people to work with.

Readers, can you spot me in the dancing photos?

E, I couldn’t stop taking photos of you because you are so beautiful inside and out

As to when that will happen, I don’t have a date, it might not happen for years as for now my focus is on my new family and my new career in retail.
