Emma and Jason, Married! | Chicago Hancock Tower Wedding

“Generally, by the time you are Real, most of your hair has been loved off, and your eyes drop out and you get loose in your joints and very shabby. But these things don’t matter at all, because once you are Real you can’t be ugly, except to people who don’t understand” – The Velveteen Rabbit.

Emma and Jason used one of my favorite quotes for their reading at their sunset-timed ceremony on the 95th floor of the John Hancock Tower. It was a gathering of their closest family and friends, who were all smiles watching this super fun, young, and completely in love couple tie the knot on their wedding day. I had photographed Emma and Jason’s engagement over a year ago in Boston. They met while Jason was a grad student and Emma was undergrad at Harvard, in a very clumsy game of intramural soccer. This wedding day, there was nothing clumsy. Though we had a very cold day and it was windy like the world was ending, Emma and Jason were full of grace and completely putting their trust in me. That is why I love these images so much, as I believe they truly represent the spirit and emotion of this day. And the dress! Don’t even get me started on how much I ADORE Emma’s dress

The light at the Sofitel Water Tower was simply amazing. We started with the guys getting ready

Dapper all around

Emma’s colors for this wedding were blue and orange. I loved how beautiful her invitations looked – they used one of our engagement session photos for the save the date

Her wedding ring was so unique – a blue and orange gem stone surrounding her engagement ring. On the right – details of Emma’s shoes

As you’ll soon see, the makeup artist for this wedding was amazing! Everyone looked fabulous. Ladies, if you want amazing light during getting ready, find modern hotel rooms with BIG windows that face the sun – it makes a big difference!

More shoes and… the dress

Ready for the dress on Emma???

Incredible, I can’t even find words for how amazing Emma looks in her Mori Lee Blu dress

The bouquets were handtied and modern

Okay, this is another one of those tear-inducing first looks. First off, props to the men for waiting outside in the freezing wind for 45 minutes as the limo shuttled the ladies to the location. I’m sure that built up Jason’s anticipation for his beautiful bride

Wedding party fun

I think this is one of my favorite photos

The wind continued into the portraits of just Emma and Jason. I have so many favs it’s hard to choose =)

If you can’t tell, it’s a gorgeous day, add a gorgeous couple, it’s just magic

Up we went, 95 floors, to the Signature Room inside the Hancock Tower for the ceremony. The view was spectacular

They danced their way back down the aisle

Jason, you look like you got something on your nose

Dancing into the night

I love it when the couple gets back on the dance floor together. A picture like this is one of my fav to capture

A wonderful day

Thank you Emma and Jason so much for the smiles over this past year! Can you tell how much fun I had? A LOT! (photos taken by Kyle)
